Brown Dust 2 Beginner Guides

Recommended 5* Costume Selective Tickets

The Guide Pass introduced June 19, 2025 is intended to help new players get started playing the game. It provides 12 special tickets that can be spent to purchase copies of 12 specific costumes. If you buy the limited time Mega SALE!!! package (available for 3 days after you activate your account), you get another 5 for a total of 17.

For a new account, I'd recommend a spread that prioritizes upgrading Diana (pub recruitable, so needs 1 less ticket), Lathel, and Helena. The SP reduction happens for +3 on those costumes, so it's really helpful if you can get that. Then take a copy of the next most valuable costumes you don't already have.

Quick Recommendations
Character Upgrades Tickets
Diana +2 3
Lathel +3 4
Helena +3 4
Levia +1 2
Rafina +1 2
Zenith +0 1
Refithea +0 1
Total 17

A new player will get the most value out of these tickets by sticking to the first set of costumes here. These are the best of the best and will never go out of style.

Type Portrait Character Costume Purpose Min -1SP Ideal Notes
Core Supports (Most Important) Min -1SP Ideal
Universal Diana Adventurer of the Unknown Buff property damage +0 +3 +5 The most valuable 5* support when you have elemental advantage. It's better to give her upgrades and continue using Arines/Elpis than neglect her in favor of Lathel/Liberta/Helena. Pub recruitable.
Physical Lathel Homunculus Buff ATK +1 +3 +5 The highest ATK buff in the game, but only for the first 2 turns. For the remaining turns, the potency is reduced to about half. Requires +1 to be at least as good as Arines for the remaining turns. Buff can be kept up full time at +5.
Magic Helena B-Rank Idol Buff Magic ATK + crit rate +2 +3 +5 Requires +2 and potentials to be better than Elpis. 50% crit rate at +5.
Magic Levia Track and Field Captain Chains + Magic Vulnerability +0 +1 +4 The main target receives a stronger vulnerability debuff. Vulnerability potency increases at +2 and +4.
Physical Rafina Game Club Chains + Physical Vulnerability +0 +1 +4 Vulnerability potency increases at +2 and +4.

If you've been playing since the last time the core supports were on banner (December 2024), you might have the previous group maxed out. If that's the case, consider picking costumes from the following group.

Type Portrait Character Costume Purpose Min -1SP Ideal Notes
Intermediate Selections Min -1SP Ideal
Universal Zenith Robin Hood Chains + Concentrated Fire + Vulnerability +0 +3 +3 Upgrade to the 3* Rigenette. Concentrated fire is a taunt effect that helps characters reach enemies they wouldn't normally be able to, either by positioning or their targeting type (eg. since Zenith is a Skip/Vault, she can help Very Front attackers like Sacred Justia skip to increase their range). Once you get a single copy, the other costumes in this group are higher priority for further upgrades. Costs 0SP at +3 with potentials.
Universal Refithea The Gluttonous Crit damage + damage reduction aura +0 +1 +5 Pub recruitable. If you don't have her Pure White Blessing costume, you'll never use her outside of her field ability. Crit damage buff potency caps at +3, SP recovery increases at +4, and damage reduction increases at +5.
Magic Loen Last Hope Raw damage +0 -- +5 Her damage and 3 turn cooldown makes her useful even without her other costumes. Very similar to Maid Name R Liatris, but without a conditional.
Magic Venaka Wind Dancer Decent damage + increases wind damage taken +0 +1 +5 Pub recruitable. Vulnerability potency increases at +3.

These are the least valuable in the pool for a new player. Only long time players are likely to pick from this pool, so avoid unless you know what you're doing.

Advanced Selections Min -1SP Ideal
Magic Seir New Hire Stacking augmentation buff when she's hit +0 -- +5 This is a very strong late game pick if you have the other supports maxed out. You'll usually only use her in Guild Raids, but Fiend Hunts are occasionally favorable for her as well.
Physical Ventana Comeback Idol Self ATK buff + pure damage +3 -- +5 She's a single target specialist, which has limited use to a new player, and not very useful with just the one costume. One of the top damage costumes for Last Night. ATK buff potency increases at +3.
Physical Rubia The Empress of the Ocean Chains + DEF reduction +0 +3 Damage is kinda mid. She's mostly used in Mirror Wars for the DEF reduction and Last Night for the chains.
